Elite camp by Jaidip Academy in Guwahati

Online Staff/GUWAHATI, June 17: A unique opportunity awaits young tennis talents in the region as Guwahati gears up to host a high-intensity Junior Elite Tennis Camp from July 21. Organized by the Jaidip Mukerjea Tennis Academy, the camp promises top-tier training.
Seventeen players in the U-16 category — including seven promising players from Assam — have been selected for this week-long training program at the NETF courts in the city. What makes the camp special is the coaching lineup: Commonwealth and Asian Games gold medallist Somdev Devvarman and former Davis Cup ace Prajnesh Gunneswaran will be leading the sessions.
The initiative is being spearheaded by legendary tennis figure Jaidip Mukerjea, who sees immense potential in the Northeast. “The region has hidden gems. With proper training, they can compete at the highest level,” Mukerjea said during a press briefing in the city.
The camp goes beyond basic drills. It will also focus on the mental, tactical, and nutritional aspects of the sport — all critical components for any athlete aiming to go pro.
Support from the Assam Government and the All Assam Tennis Association has been instrumental in bringing the elite camp to the state, said Mukerjee. Also present at the media interaction were Sharmin Mukerjea, Director of the Academy, and Rupinder Singh, its Marketing Director.
