WC: First match in Guwahati on October 7
Online Staff/| GUWAHATI, June 17: Guwahati will host four group stage matches of the upcoming Women's Cricket World Cup, which will begin on September 30. The International Cricket Council (ICC) confirmed the schedule for the eight-team tournament on Monday. The event will be jointly held in India and Sri Lanka and will run until November 2.
India, the host nation, will face Sri Lanka in the tournament opener on September 30. The match will be held at Bengaluru.
Guwahati’s ACA Stadium in Barsapara has been chosen as one of the key venues and will host its first match on October 7.
Teams including India, England, Sri Lanka, Bangladesh, and New Zealand will travel to Guwahati for their group matches. Additionally, the city is also in line to host one of the semi-finals, scheduled for October 29—provided Pakistan does not qualify for the last-four stage.
Group Stage Matches in Guwahati:
• October 7: England vs Bangladesh
• October 11: England vs Sri Lanka
• October 23: India vs New Zealand
• October 26: England vs New Zealand
• October 29: First Semi-final (to be held in Guwahati or Colombo, depending on qualification scenarios)
